Learn About CHESS

CHESS Christian School helps students discover who God created them to be as they are empowered to impact the world for Christ.

CHESS Christian School strategically matches students’ God-given abilities with creative educational opportunities, to solve problems they have never seen before.

It all started with unanswered questions.

“How can a quality Christian education be widely provided to any family, regardless of economic means, while developing each child according to their God-given bent?  Is it possible to prepare the next generation for a solid launch into their adult years?  How do we develop strong leadership and a clear path for the future in the next generation, so that upon graduation, each year is impactful for the kingdom, not spent aimlessly wandering through a myriad of options?”

CHESS Christian School was birthed as four covenant families met to discuss a potential model of affordable Christian education.  A vision emerged, and on July 17, 2014, CHESS Christian School was officially born as an organization.

With the first day of school designated as August 25, 2014, the covenant families had 5 weeks to prepare for the start school.  Not having so much as a folder or a paper clip, nor a location or teachers, the covenant families prayed for and believed God would provide for every need to start CHESS.  The needs were so enormous; it was only God who could bring the details together.  As MIRACLES rolled in EVERY DAY, God was glorified and worshipped!

CHESS Christian School ended its first year with 73 students, and more than doubled in size to 163 students by its second year.  Now in it’s 3rd academic year, CHESS Christian School is blessed to serve 192 students!  As the Lord continues to provide for each need, the administration, and Board of Directors seek to follow God on the amazing journey of educating the next generation for Christ!

BibleCHESS Christian School partners with families that have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. At least one parent of students must be a proclaimed born again believer in Jesus Christ.

  • We believe there is one God, who is infinitely perfect, eternally existent in three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:26, Matthew 28:19, Jude 20-21)
  • Jesus Christ is the true God and the true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a perfect substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures and will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness and peace (Philippians 2:6-11; Luke 1:34-38; Hebrews 2:9; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; John 11:25; Mark 16:19; Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11).
  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-16, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of the human nature.  Man is justified by faith trusting in the shed blood of Christ.  Only by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16-19, 5:24; Roman 3:23, 5:8-9; Titus 3:5).
  • We believe man is made in the image of God for the reflection of His glory.  Man’s purpose is to have a personal relationship with God giving Him all praise and adoration. Our hearts are fashioned to worship, to pray, love, being fully committed to our heavenly Father.  We cry holy, worthy is the Lamb of God. Our emptiness can only truly be filled by the love of our creator God (Genesis 1:27; 1 Corinthians 11:7; Revelation 4:11).
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: believers in Christ are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who reject Jesus unto the resurrection of eternal damnation (John 5:28-29).
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28).
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30, 5:18).
  • We believe that man was created directly by God and in His image for the reflection of His glory. We believe that God created the heavens and the earth, including all life, by direct act in six literal 24-hour days about 6,000 years ago (Genesis 1:1; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16-17).

We believe when families who fervently follow Christ come together in community, learning is maximized. Made in the image of God and patterned after the Trinity, parents, students, and teachers are created to know others and to be known by others.

As Christ followers, we believe all learning is for the purpose of knowing God better and making Him known to a world in need, and yet we believe disciples are developed through doing. Passionate discipleship is taught and modeled in authentic community through various relationships (parent-child, teacher-student, student-student, and parent-parent).

By creating exciting, creative, and interactive learning environments, we believe students and teachers will experience contagious learning. Our educational community is committed to lifelong learning as we fulfill our God-given callings.

Allowing families to choose their level of participation, we believe Christian education can affordably match a family’s income without being an excessive financial burden. Rather than delivering a “one-size-fits-most” education, we are committed to providing a quality, individualized education through a creative collaboration between the school and family.

Providing a variety of valuable academic and elective offerings, we believe in giving families the choice for their level of participation. Flexible engagement give families the freedom to choose a level of educational and financial commitment that best meets their needs.

CHESS Christian School is committed to a doctrine which supports the infallibility of Scripture, that the Bible is the ultimate authority against which all evidence is examined. The educational philosophy is Christ-centered. We believe that the Bible has unique relevance to the development of the whole person and assign priority to its instruction in all academic disciplines. Teachers profess a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Kids in riverThe learning environment is loving, supportive and reflects high standards of scholarship. We believe that students should find courses of study exciting, imaginative and disciplined and a vital laboratory, which nurtures creativity, individuality of thought, and spiritual development. We believe that the Word of God has unique relevance to the process of educating this nation’s youth. When properly integrated into a curriculum, we believe that the Bible provides the students with competencies which are vital to the process of coping in the world today.

At CHESS, we model our education after the Charlotte Mason method, based on Charlotte’s firm belief that the child is a person and we must educate that whole person, not just his mind.  A Charlotte Mason education is three-pronged: in her words, “Education is an Atmosphere, a Discipline, a Life.”
