I’ll be honest with you, picking a name for our now called “True North Testimonies” wasn’t the easiest feat. We probably went through 10-12 different names right off the bat, crumbling up ideas and tossing them to the ground this way and that. But after a while, I realized it wasn’t the actual name we were missing the mark on; it was its direction.

We needed a name that represented our true purpose of establishing the group. It wasn’t just for fun or to teach. It was the combination. Even from just a spark of an idea I knew I wanted this group to adventure out and discover things not just about themselves but the Lord. What better way than with Jesus Christ at the helm holding the compass? That simple idea was my establishment for the name. Jesus Christ is our True North and we can do all things through Him, and only through Him.

See, here’s the thing about a compass. Although it may always show you which way is North it relies on an unstable foundation, the Earth’s magnetic field which is known to flip. A compass may be able to guide us for some time, but it is the Lord who will forever be the one True North. As it is said in Joshua 1:9 “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
