AUGUST 7, 2020
In response to the August 4th state orders, our REVISED Reimagine Reopening Plan can be found here.
We are yearning to continue the Lord’s work through discipleship in our hallways, prayers in our common areas, and collaborative learning in our classrooms, and look forward to seeing everyone the week of August 17!
JULY 8, 2020
While the warm summer days serve as a welcome distraction from the daily reminders of uncertainty, the CHESS Christian School leadership team has been hard at work to identify safe ways to reopen our school. Continuing to provide high quality, Biblically-based academic classes, coupled with a rich discipleship culture that nurtures students to become who God created them to be, is the unchanging mission of CHESS Christian School.
As new information flows daily through media outlets, CHESS Christian School continues to seek the wisdom of medical and governing professionals to guide our plan for reopening. However, scientific contradictions and competing individual positions create challenges when developing a plan for our school community.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 reminds us,
“This is what the Lord says:
‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,’ declares the Lord.”
Our CHESS Reimagine Reopening Plan carefully considered and prayed through, may contain elements that are difficult for you or your family. Please know that we care deeply about you, your children, our teachers, and the families who partner with CHESS. As a school that does not take any state or federal funding, we experience limitations in resources, but flexibility in implementing our mission.
Walking in an environment of the unknown is not new to the CHESS community; rather, we are familiar with following the leadership of God into unknown territory. Starting school in the fall will likely bring changes that we can not currently anticipate, and we commit to seeking the Lord’s wisdom through prayer, while also making adjustments based on increased understanding of safe responses to the virus. In addition to developing a safe reentry plan for face-to-face classes, we are also improving our distance learning online offerings for students, faculty, or families who come into contact with COVID-19 and need to quarantine for a period of time.
Whether face-to-face or through distance learning, we look forward to continuing to build the Christian Community we love at CHESS Christian School!
The first day of school is August 17th, and we look forward to being back together soon!
Stay safe, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
